Channelling a Coastal Hideaway of Tulum.
Nestled in the heart of the captivating Tseung Kwan O, lies a cozy abode tailored for a couple. It serves as a tranquil retreat where the couple can unwind and find respite from their busy day-to-day lives.
Embracing the essence of Tulum, known for its unique aesthetics, our concept of a “coastal hideaway” celebrates the beauty of nature, authenticity, and simplicity. Natural materials, an earthy colour palette, handcrafted textiles, and a strong connection to the outdoors are seamlessly integrated throughout the home, creating a harmonious escape from the bustling city.
House of Forme worked with the client on their interior design, project management, FF&E design and styling.
Curves and Comfort.
Upon entering the foyer, a compact yet functional space welcomes you. A full-body mirror, wooden trump stools, and a clothes hanger provide practicality and convenience, ensuring a smooth transition in and out of the home.
Despite its size, every corner of the home has been thoughtfully utilised to showcase special features. Hand-plastered paint adorns the walls, infusing the space with both beauty and warmth. Striking walnut cabinets with pronounced grain patterns add character, accompanied by delicate brass touches that develop a charming patina over time; while soft fabrics create a cozy and cohesive ambiance throughout the space.
Moving beyond the foyer, the living room unfolds as the largest area of the home. Designed with the couple's love for television entertainment in mind, this space offers maximum comfort with a generously-sized couch upholstered in anti-scratch fabrics. A bespoke cabinet, elegantly curved, graces the wall above the TV, enhancing the overall softness of the room.
Incorporating a Bespoke Charm.
A feature cabinet between the foyer and living room serves as a storage solution for shoes while providing the couple with a personalised gallery space to display cherished memorabilia from their travels around the world to their day-to-day lives.
Continuing the journey, the open-designed kitchen utilises the same special paint as seen throughout the home, adorning the cabinets and wrapped exhaust. To enhance the ambiance of the kitchen, the sink wall is adorned with meticulously handcrafted Moroccan zellige tiles. With their unique texture and subtle variations in color, these tiles glisten and reflect differently throughout the day, infusing the home with a subtle and elegant liveliness.
To create a cohesive visual language, textured glass cabinets and brass knobs are incorporated in the kitchen to echo the design elements found elsewhere in the home. The kitchen also features a bespoke dining table with a stunning terrazzo tabletop. This unique centrepiece adds a touch of artistry and sophistication, creating a delightful space for the couple to gather and enjoy meals with family and friends.
Through the Portal to Serenity.
Transitioning through a dome shaped portal, one arrives at the master bedroom. A display shelf, finished in the same special hand-plastered paint as the rest of the home, greets you upon entry. The bed rests on a raised platform, maximising storage space, and is adorned with a woven velvet fabric headboard, adding comfort and softness to the room. A hand-woven rattan wardrobe echoes the Tulum-inspired design concept, while similar materials are thoughtfully incorporated into the light fixtures, ensuring a harmonious aesthetic. Adding a personal touch, each door within the home features a cat door, with a mini lock, providing the client's furry friend with the freedom to roam and explore their new home.
